Laurel Flores Fantauzzo is the author of the young adult novel My Heart Underwater and the nonfiction book The First Impulse. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, The Baffler, and Esquire Philippines, among other places. She has taught literature and creative writing at universities in Singapore, Manila, and Honolulu. She has been a finalist for the Philippine National Book award and a Hedgebrook resident.
